In this article we are going to give away one of our most effective SEO techniques.
Out of all the different techniques that can be used, we have found this strategy to be one of our most effective for building backlinks for our clients.
Building Links From Outdated Online Resources
This technique is a step-by-step process but has a really huge impact on SEO when done effectively.
Lets get right to it:
Step 1. Find websites in your industry that have:
- Changed names
- Moved to a new URL
- Stopped offering a service
- Stopped updating a resource
- Shut down
Step 2. Find sites still linking to the old, outdated URL’s
This step is vitally important:
Now that you’ve found a site that recently re-branded or a site feature that’s no longer there, it’s time to find the links pointing to that page.
Just grab the URL of the outdated resource and put it into your backlink checking tool of choice (Here is our favorite).
Depending on the site and how long it’s been changed or outdated, you should have quite a few link opportunities to work with.
Advanced SEO Tip:
Focus on sites that have the highest Domain Authority (DA). The higher the DA, the more impact it will have on SEO.
Step 3. Reach out to site owners
Your last step is to reach out to all of the site owners that still link to the outdated resource.
You want to give them a quick heads up about their outdated link…and kindly suggest that they add your link to their site.
By doing this, you are adding value to their site twice, once from the heads up about their outdated link and again by showing them my valuable resource. You are ultimately helping them and they should be more than happy to add your link to their page.
There you have it. A link-building strategy to get backlinks to your site to help with you SEO. Give it a shot and let us know of any questions as you test it out.
